What's Your Dream?

Watch this video as a class and ask your students to respond to the following questions in the comment section of the blog?  It's very important that we start talking about Dr. King's legacy before MLK day.

What is your dream?

My dream is to get the Martin Luther King Junior award.

If Martin Luther King never made the speech I would have almost no friends. Second of all I would not go to the same school, and not know half the people I know now.

My dream is to get a college degree and become famous.
Dr. King affected my life because my classroom wouldn't look the same & I wouldn't know as much people as I do now.

To be friends with everybody, but that can be hard you can't always get along with everybody.

It affects life in a huge way because a lot of my friends are blacks. A lot of sport players are blacks and there usually very good sports wouldn't be as fun without them. A lot of good chefs are blacks lots of delicious food we eat at restaurants are made by blacks. Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream affects our life in a huge way.

Martin Luther King's speech affects me because I would not be in the school that I'm in right now if it wasn't for him. My dream is for whites and black kids and grown ups to get along and to stop murders and kidnappers and arsonists. I want to stop burning stuff like buildings.

Martin Luther king wanted everybody to live peacefully and not everybody to get teased by the color of their skin. Martin Luther King had a dream the whole time when he was little he always wanted us to be treated fairly. And he wanted us to be nice to our friends. When Martin Luther King had a dream I had one that other people won't be mean to me.

My dream is to teach people about history not in the teaching way but in the archeology way. Martin Luther King Jr. helped me see the way everyone is equal in a good way. His dream affects my life today because some of my friends are black or biracial black. I am very thankful for what he did for us, he even died because of what he stood up for.
