Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Fun Theory
How does this video relate to culturally responsive teaching strategies? When you address a student's culture as a positive asset to their identity as a learner, it increases classroom engagement and achievement. This video is a great example of how one small change in your teaching approach or classroom space with regard to culture can raise the fun level! This change might be a new mentor text, an interactive bulletin board display, or an exciting academic project about student backgrounds.

Students are actively engaged. There are clear expectations. The power of music is evident. This would take a lot of time at the beginning of the year to set expectations, model, and practice, but is clearly well worth it. Parameters and expectations would need to be clearly presented by the teacher. We love "Bottoms Up, Heads Together"!
My dream is to do really well in school, and get straight A's on all of my report cards. If Martin Luther King JR. had not had his dream I may not have had some of my favorite teachers.
